Rolex Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master
In the search for the perfect watch for sailing, enthusiasts will quickly find what they are looking for with the Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master from Rolex. First introduced in 1992, the Rolex Yacht Master developed an incredible popularity within a very short time, although it was immediately placed in the high-price segment thanks to its gold case. This outstanding watch with a high increase in value elegantly combines functionality with nautical style.
Rolex Yacht Master for sailing
Water has always been an important element for the Swiss watch manufacturer. The Rolex Sea-Dweller and the Rolex Seamaster have been part of the range of luxury watches from Geneva for several decades. In 1992, Rolex launched the Yacht Master, another watch that was closely linked to the element of "water". Specially developed for sailing, the Rolex Yacht Master with its comprehensive functionality stands for maximum precision.
The connection to sailing goes back much further, as Rolex entered into a long-term partnership with the New York Yacht Club in 1958 and became a sponsor of numerous sailing events and regattas.
Design of the Rolex Yacht Master
Initially, the Rolex Yacht Master was only available in gold, but the range is now much more versatile. Starting with different sizes ranging from 37mm to 42mm, a Yacht Master can be purchased in 18-carat gold, titanium or combinations of gold or platinum and stainless steel.
A special feature of the watch is the bidirectional rotating bezel, which sets it apart from the Submariner and the Sea-Dweller. With a water resistance of up to 100 metres, there are no technical problems even on short dives or when snorkelling.
Special models of the Rolex Yacht Master
Collectors are often on the lookout for special, rare or stylish models or special editions with a high increase in value. This undoubtedly includes the Rolex Yacht-Master 40, made of 18-carat Everose gold, from which the bezel was also crafted. The mixture of stainless steel and platinum leaves a very noble impression on the observer, as does the inlay made of black Cerachrom ceramic.
A striking feature of the series is the range, which is aimed particularly at women. The Rolex Yacht-Master 37 is the smallest model and is available in Everose gold, Rolesor and Rolesium.
The Yacht-Master Chocolate (reference 268621), which features a brown dial and a wristwatch made of stainless steel and Everose gold, is very popular.
Price of the Rolex Yacht Master
The entry-level models of the Rolex Yacht Master start at around €7,400 and there seems to be no upper limit. The price spectrum ranges from €11,000 to €40,000 for classic editions of the luxury watch from Geneva. Pre-owned Rolex Yacht Master editions can be a bargain or two, with prices below €5,000. These are usually the ladies' versions.
