Rolex Cellini
Cellini is one of Rolex's oldest and most legendary collections. Initially released at rather irregular intervals, the then Marketing Director René-Paul decided to develop a new model series in the 1960s. In contrast to numerous other collections from Rolex, the development of the Rolex Cellini always focussed on aesthetics. The goldsmith and sculptor Benvenuto Cellini, who characterised the Renaissance with new interpretations in the 16th century, provided the inspiration and gave the collection its name. The Geneva-based watch manufacturer has taken up the same cause and continues to create special moments with the Rolex Cellini.
Cellini Rolex Prince with history
Given the long tradition of outstanding luxury watches launched by Rolex, it is hardly surprising that the Cellini Rolex Prince is a model that captivates collectors and enthusiasts alike. The first original Rolex Prince was introduced in 1928 with its distinctive rectangular shape. Until the 1940s, the Rolex Cellini Prince was a style icon and, somewhat surprisingly for many, its production was discontinued.
In 2005, the Rolex Prince experienced its resurrection and the Swiss came up with something special for it. The more recent editions are mainly available in yellow gold, white gold and Everose gold and the transparent case back provides a rare insight into the functionality of such a luxury watch.
Cellini models inspire the watch world
Anyone with a keen sense for beautiful watches will not be able to avoid the sophisticated Rolex Cellini watches. Past models such as the Rolex Cellini Danaos, Rolex Cellini Cestello and Rolex Cellini Quartz have contributed to the collection's popularity.
Since 2014, the Cellini Time, Cellini Date and Cellini Dual Time have been launched on the market as further interesting models that are generating enthusiasm. With a new, very distinctive design, the Cellini collection has been given yet another new facet. Instead of relying on the classic rectangular shape, Rolex surprised us with a round case, Roman numerals, guilloché dials and a tapered Lancette hand. Unique variants of this reissued series feature a dual-time function or a moon phase display.
Rolex King Midas reference 9630
If you are looking for particularly rare and precious watches, watch lovers can find what they are looking for with the Rolex King Midas reference 9630. It was only issued 800 times between 1962 and 1972 and is named after the legendary king from Greek mythology. He is known to have turned everything he touched into gold. Accordingly, the watch is made of white or yellow gold and stands out with its angular, asymmetrical case, which immediately catches the eye.
Price of the Rolex Cellini with a wide range
A pre-owned Rolex Cellini can be purchased for as little as €4,000. Due to its long history, there are of course many vintage models that cost more than €10,000. Examples include the Rolex Cellini Prince and the Cellini Dual Time. Exceptional models in the collection, such as the Rolex Cellini Moonphase, reach prices of up to 27,000 euros and more.
